In the heart of the charming landscape of the river Danube, called Wachau, you will find the estate of the family Machherndl, which belongs to the family since 1786.
The unique microclimate of this region makes the Wachau to the ideal area for it´s white wines, which belong to the most famous of the world.
Like all the generations before, Erich Machherndl jun. and his father emphasise on the finest quality of their wines, representing themselves as very pure, fruity and very typical for the variety.
The favourite grapes are Grüner Veltliner, Riesling and Chardonnay.
Various national (newcomer 2000) and international awards (Tastersguide, Beverage tasting institute – USA, international winechallenge - GB) approve the family´s ambitions. As for example the “Riesling Smaragd von den Steinterrassen 1999”, smelling and tasting like peaches and fresh apricots, is amongst the 10 best Riesling wines of the world.
