Gisborne is the first place to see the new sunrise in the world. Boasting distinctive sub-regions across the river valley and foothills, our soils are fertile yet free draining. Combined with plentiful sunlight, and even rainfall distribution, our soils do not require irrigation -Dry farmed- making Gisborne the most naturally sustainable region in New Zealand.
Growing grapes with natural rainfall produces our distinctive fruit-driven wines with weight and intensity. GroCo contracts approximately 240ha of grapes in Gisborne and 49 ha of premium single vineyard Sauvignon Blanc grapes from the Waihopai Valley of Marlborough
