Quinta do Infantado was created in 1816, more than 2 centuries ago, for Infante D. Pedro hence its name, and has been owned by the Roseira family since 1904.
Located 4 km from Pinhao, in the unique terroir of Gontelho, a micro-region long famous for the quality of its wines.
Based on the concepts of terroir and vigneron, Quinta do Infantado innovated in 1979 launching the first Estate Bottled Portos, thus breaking the monopoly of Gaia’s negociants.
The vineyards are the result of the selection massale of more than 20 Douro grape varieties, white and red, planted at all exposures. Fermenting in lagar allows a complete extraction, but with a lot of finesse, respecting the grapes. The Portos are less sweet semi dry, due to a longer fermentation, more vinous and lighter, making for a series of new pairings at the table.
Quinta do Infantado also makes Douro wines, each an expression of the vineyards that originates it.
