Dominio de Tares was founded in 2000 with the goal to produce age-worthy wines that express the maximum potential of the soils and the micro-climates of Bierzo region with the indigenous grape varieties. Mencia and Godello. Therefore, based in historic vines and traditional vine-growing techniques together with innovative methods at the cellar, Dominio de Tares became a reference in the Bierzo winemaking reappearance. The Dominio Dostares Project is based in the historic vine-growing region of "Los Oteros", Leon, the cradle and the last stronghold of Prieto Picudo variety, that was almost extinguished at the end of XX century. This way, Dominio de Tares continues with the mission of preserve the traditional vine-growing of the area, strengthen unique, high quality and age-worthy indigenous grape varieties.
