Wines with character from Wurttemberg a red wine region Our Wine Estate SONNENHOF is located in Wurttemberg in the South of Germany. We are proud of our region which is famous for its fabulous red wines and some special grape varieties like Lemberger, Trollinger and Samtrot. With nearly half of its vineyards planted in red varieties, the wine region Wurttemberg is the largest red wine area in Germany. Trollinger, Schwarzriesling (Pinot meunier), (Pinot noir), Portugieser and Lemberger make very fruity red wines. Wurttemberg's white wines - Riesling, Grauburgunder (Pinot grigio) and Gelber Muskateller- have a vigorous, hearty taste. History SONNENHOF is proud of a long tradition of wine making which goes back to 1522. In 1973 the two brothers-in-law, Helmut Bezner und Albrecht Fischer decided to consolidate their agricultural holding. The wine estate was established and named SONNENHOF, which means sunny estate.
