The Colorado wine industry includes over 40 licensed wineries, including the highest commercially producing winery in the world (6400 ft elevation). Most of the vinifera grapes are grown in CO's 2 AVAs, the Grand Valley and the West Elks. The CO Wine Board funds viticultural research through CSU and promotes Colorado wine.
