The Castle of Montegiove is one of the oldest mansions in Umbria. Since 1780 the castle has been property of the Marquises Misciattelli. The estate covers nearly 1200 hectares of stunning Umbrian countryside, scattered with natural grown oak forests, vineyards, olive fields and arable land. The principal products of the estate are Orvietano Rosso DOC and Umbria Rosso IGT red wines, extra virgin olive oil, cereals, free-ranging Chianina beef cattle, truffles and forest products. The estate of Montegiove has a centennial tradition of passionate wine making, giving birth to products of outstanding and absolute virtue. Production is exclusively from selected grape clusters, handpicked and meticulously vinified with the latest in modern equipment fitted in the historic castle cellars. The vineyards include typical Umbrian and Tuscan varieties: Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Sagrantino, Canaiolo Nero together with international varieties as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
