Created in 1946, SIEUR D'ARQUES is one of the most renowned wine companies of the South of France (Languedoc) located in LIMOUX and the leading company of the appellation with 65% of share. Limoux has a great history because it is the birthplace of the first sparkling wine. Indeed it is in 1531 in the 16th century that Benedictines monks of Saint Hilaire abbey have elaborated the first sparkling wine of the world one century before the Champagne. Furthermore our geographical location at the crossroad of two climates and at the foothills of Pyrenean mountains (altitude and freshness) allow us to produce white grapes (Chardonnay, Chenin, Mauzac..) and red grapes like Pinot Noir. Thanks to this historical anecdote our main know-how is the elaboration of sparkling wines with the Traditional Method; AOC Cremant de Limoux, AOC Blanquette de Limoux, AOC Limoux methode ancestrale. The excellent value for money of our wines allow us to propose an excellent alternative to the Champagne.
