KOM mineral water is characterized with high рН and low mineral content – it is suitable for everyday consumption. The Latin letters ‘pH’ are used to indicate the acidity or alkalinity of solutions and liquids. Those with pH lower than seven are considered acidic. They are not suitable for people complaining of gastrointestinal diseases such as colitis, gastritis or heartburn because they intensify discomfort and pain. On the other side, waters rich in bicarnonates (HCO3) and with pH higher than seven, which are considered alkaline (basic), are the right choice for those who suffer from the above-stated diseases. Water with pH closest to seven is considered neutral.The village of Barzia is located in North-Western Bulgaria in the region of Montana. The volume of total annual operating resource is determined as equal to 21 600 m³ mineral water at a daily average operating rate of 1 l/sec and a peak operating rate of 2,5 l/sec for 250 days per year.
