What began in 1649 when the Rizzardi family established their vineyards in Valpolicella is now an estate covering over 100 hectares of vines from Bardolino to Valpolicella to Soave. The focus of Guerrieri Rizzardi is on its unique, cru vineyards which lie at the heart of these Classico regions. Single vineyard expressions of Amarone, Ripasso, Bardolino and Soave have forged in the company reputation. Unusually for an estate which dates back over several centuries, Guerrieri Rizzardi is still family owned and family run, Giuseppe Rizzardi is the winemaker and is responsible for the vineyards while his brother Agostino Rizzardi is the company director.
After a series of Tre Bicchieri awards by Italys most renowned wine guide ‘Gambero Rosso Vini D Italia the year 2014 saw Guerrieri Rizzardi win the biggest prize in Italian wine: The Gambero Rosso Red Wine of the Year. This was and still remains the only Amarone to have been selected as Italys best red wine.
