The König Johann Winery (formerly A. Schmitt) is a 10 ha family estate in Germany’s beautiful and famous Saar Valley. Backed by generations of winemaking, we produce a wide range of wines, from the mouth-watering, dry-style (trocken) German Riesling up to the rich, sweeter styles of Riesling, including Spaetlese, Auslese and Ice Wine. Our 2010 vintage wines were acclaimed by Germany’s most prestigious wine guides, “Gault & Millau” and “Feinschmecker”, reflecting the character and excellence of our estate. Our wines are fermented using natural fermentation methods using the indigenous wild yeasts that have inhabited our region for 1000s of years. As a result of our dedication to natural winemaking, our wines show the true “terroir” of the region and are elegant and distinctive. We are able to offer four different lines of wine.
