The brewery has been in the business of producing fine Czech beer for centuries and was established in 1434 by local monks in the region of Bohemia. Recently the brewery has benefited from an extensive refurbishment . Podkovan beer comes in glass bottles of 0.5 litres, PET bottles of 1.5 litres and also in disposable kegs of 20 or 30 litres (known as Petainer kegs).
