The history of the Distilleria Gualco begins way back in 1870, when Paolo Gualco, formerly a cooper, founded the Distilleria Gualco.
The fine reputation of this little artisan distillery was established by Bartolomeo Gualco, known locally as “ the wizard of grappa “, after being christened as such by the Italian press, and his niece Susanna Gualco that continued the business for many years with great entrepreneurial ability.
Susanna passed on her vast experience to her son Alessandro Soldatini and grandchildren Giorgio and Marcella, the current deed holders of the Gualco distillery.
The system for producing the Distilleria Gualco’s grappa is the Piemontese discontinuous bain-marie system. The grappa produced with this alembic is the only spirit recognized by Piedmont Region as a local traditional product.
For years now Gualco grappa and liqueurs have been awarded important prizes both in Italy and abroad.
