Pyramid Valley’s home vineyard site, near the village of Waikari in North Canterbury, was identified and established according to Burgundian principles: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are planted to clay-limestone soils, on gentle to moderate scarp slopes, at a density of 10,000-12,000 vines per hectare. Our commitment to biodynamics carries from the vineyard into the cellar: we use absolutely no commercial yeasts or bacteria, and make no additions beyond an occasional small measure of sulphur at bottling.
We are also privileged to collaborate with talented growers in other regions of New
Zealand; the resulting wines form our Growers Collection. In addition to Pinot Noirs from Marlborough and Central Otago, we produce Riesling, Pinot Blanc, and Cabernet Franc.
