It all began in 1971, with Manuel da Costa Carvalho Lima, the forebear of Vinhos Norte who, together with his sons, started the company with distribution of wine as their core business. Located in Minho region, through the last four decades, Vinhos Norte has become one of the main producers of Vinhos Verdes in Portugal. The growth of Vinhos Norte has always been linked to innovation both at technical and at winemaking levels. The company’s portfolio presents premium DOC wines under the brand TAPADA DOS MONGES, and Sparkling Wine of Vinho Verde under the brand MIOGO. Today, with the third generation involved, the goal of Vinhos Norte is to provide the consumers with young and extremely aromatic wines which explore the potential of the local grape varieties and project beyond the national borders these unique wines.
