Forty years ago, Grant Wood, Tim’s grandfather, first planted Shiraz vines on his ‘Clytha’ property on the famous terra rossa strip in Coonawarra. Perhaps knowing way back then, that the vines would initiate a tradition of grapegrowing in the family that continues today. Viticulturalist Tim Kidman and engineer wife Sarah have combined their skills and are now the third generation to care for these vines – along with a few extras which have been planted over the years. The special care and attention to detail of hand pruning, continues to be the most important technique for growing high quality wine grapes in the cool, sometimes challenging environment of Coonawarra. For many vintages our grapes have featured in some of Coonawarra’s most famous brands and we are delighted to now present our own fine wines.
