Firmly rooted in the soil of the Shawnee Hills since 1980, Owl Creek is home of the first commercial wine-grape vineyards since Prohibition. Our founder, Ted Wichmann, was the first commercial winemaker and the creator of the Shawnee Hills AVA. The Shawnee Hills is the source of Owl Creek’s exceptional fruit to create our exceptional wines - since the beginning, we have built a reputation for producing among the finest wines in Mid America. Today 22 wineries and 70 commercial vineyards operate in the Shawnee Hills. Our focus is simple. We produce the best fruit possible, process our wines using traditional methods adapted by us to the region, and never forget we make one customer at a time through education and producing wine that delights our patrons.
