Donatella Cinelli Colombini belongs to one of the oldest families producing wines in Montalcino. She now owns two estates in Montalcino and Trequanda. In Montalcino there are 18 hectares of vineyard and the winery is Casato Prime Donne. The other estate, Fattoria del Colle in Trequanda is in the Chianti and DOC Orcia regions. The wine makers are all female, this is revolutionary for Italy. Donatella Cinelli Colombini runs the two wineries since 1998 and has changed them radically, conjugating technology and tradition: for example the salvaging of the autochthonous Sienese rootstock Foglia Tonda.
