The blue agave plant grows wild in the dry Desolation Valley in South Africa and forms the basis of agave spirit product. Our agave plants are carefully cooked, pressed and fermented at controlled temperatures to extract all of the blue agave aromas before being triple distilled to produce a superior spirit that is a 100% blue agave spirit blend. The Blue Agave Americana has distinct advantages over its Mexican counterpart since it is a much larger plant and therefore produces a greater yield of agave juice per plant. Agave Distillers has the distinct benefit in that it is not forced to produce a “mixto” product due to no raw material shortages. Because the appellation of “tequila” is exclusive to Mexico under international trade laws, the South African product is branded AGAVA™. The AGAVA™ product has been compared with the premium Mexican tequila’s and it has been found by consumers in numerous blind tasting to be equal the premium Mexican tequila’s.
