Château Bellefontaine is a traditional wine-making estate wich vineyard covers 85 hectares with a yearly production ( A.O.C.) of 4000 hectolitres of red, rosé and since 2001, white wine. Located in the heart of the AOC Costières de Nîmes between Saint Gilles and Vauvert and was overtaken in 1988 by a young and passionated vintner, Thierry de Combarieu. The 18th century estate is surrounded by a vineyard of 35 years old of average Bellefontaine’s name comes from an ancient Artesian source located in the estate garden’s park. Unfortunately it has actually disappeared. The soil is mainly composed of “Gress”, stone clusters colled by the Rhone and Durance rivers and it possesses the particularity of resisting to summer drought. This extension of the Rhone valley dominates the “mirror ponds” of the “ Petite Camargue” which adequately supports an early and optimal ripeness of the grapes, giving as a result supple, round and generous wines.
