Santa Barbarans, Mark and Mike met through their work in science and technology. Over lunch last fall, Mike expressed his desire for a great American vodka. Mark said, “We’ll make our own,” and the project was launched. They soon discovered that creating great vodka requires good chemistry. After much research they found that combining traditional small batch craftsmanship with the best technologies available, produced an exceedingly smooth spirit. They sincerely hope you will enjoy their award-winning RND—Brilliant American Vodka.

AMERICAN GRAIN

Vodka had its beginnings centuries ago in Eastern Europe using starch that was readily available—potatoes.

In the U.S. we have access to the finest grains in the world. RND investigated the tastes, qualities, pros and cons of various American grains and determined that mash made from corn would produce the most neutral sugars from which to distill the cleanest alcohol.

DISTILLATION

There is ongoing debate in the spirits world over distillation processes—pot stills verses continuous column.

Healthy discussion leads to good science. RND concluded that while pot stills are suitable for whiskeys and bourbons (which need to maintain aromatic compounds), the best method for creating pure clean vodka, is continuous distillation using glass columns.

To put it simply—It’s what’s not in the bottle that counts!

FILTRATION & WATER

After distillation, RND Vodka is filtered using activated stone carbon to remove any remaining impurities and congeners —(contaminants that lead to hangovers). Finally this elixir is combined with pure Colorado Mountain Spring Water to render a brilliant, velvety-smooth vodka.
