Terry Cross purchased Chateau de La Ligne on St Patrick’s day 2000 and for the next few years set about reviving the uprooted vineyard. In 2002, the 11 hectares were replanted with high density level of 6,100 vines per hectare. Chateau de La Ligne is situated in Lignan de Bordeaux, 20 km from Bordeaux, in the Entre Deux Mers Region.  
  From a dominant position on a south-facing ridge, our vineyard’s soil boasts an ideal mixture of gravel and clay on the higher parcels that gently lean downwards into a combination of clay and limestone, terminating with a little area of sand, gravel and clay lower eastern portion. In addition, the vineyard’s north-south orientation maximizes the benefits of sun exposure.

Cherry red with deep edge, shiny, fine & delicate nose with red fruit, spices and fresh almond notes
On entry it is complex and voluminous with silky & melted tannins
Sweet & full-bodied finish
Harmonious wine which has a good ageing potential

Grapes:
- 60% Merlot
- 30% Cabernet Sauvignon
- 10% Cabernet Franc
 
Harvest :
Manual harvest with baskets. Grapes are sorted out twice, first when the grapes are cut in the vineyard, second at the winery on the sorting table.
     
Vinifications :
- Cold maceration at 13 ° for 6 days.
- Alcoholic fermentation at a low temperature between 25° to 28° thermo-regulation controlled.
- 2 délestages per vat for 2 days (délestage: running off of wine)
- Aired pumping over followed by non-aired pumping over
- Malolactic fermentation in barrels for about 2 months
- Sulfitage 5g/hl (adding of sulphur against oxidation)
 
Maturation: Aging in barrels for 12 months; half new barrels
 
Production: 30,000 bottles (16,000 in stock)
 
Alcohol: 12.5% Alc/Vol

This 5 bed-roomed house, which sleeps 10 adults, has a fully equipped kitchen, 3 bathrooms with showers in each, a large spacious sitting room, pretty private patio, garden and plenty of safe parking spaces.
