The “Domaine de la Camarette” is creation of Christiane and Pierre Gontier, in 1993, using the knowledge of 100 years of wine nursery experience. They decided to branch off and build their own winery.
It was bought in the 60’s because of the uniqueness of the soil; it had never been used for this kind of vine cultivation. For more than 30 years before 1993, these fields were only used for the implantation of plants of clonal selection for the production of the vines used in the nursery.
The vineyard is located in the south of the Rhone Valley and profits by the Guaranteed Original Vintage Cotes-du-Ventoux; In French, we say A.O.C. Cotes-du-Ventoux.
The soil is a combination of clay and limestone from the 4th Era of mountains terrain. The property is located at he bottom of the Mont-Ventoux (6230 feet high).
Having a Mediterranean climate, consisting of a lot of sun but the seasons are noticeable defined. It is very favorable for a natural culture of the vines.
