Bellendena vineyard was established in 1995, near Hobart by Andrew and Jane Elek. Three hundred each of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir rootlings from Elsewhere vineyard, Huon Valley, Tasmania were planted in the deep, black dolerite soil. The name 'Bellendena' comes from the scientific name of a native Tasmanian plant, the Mountain Rocket, Bellendena montana.
