The Purbeck Vineyard is a new vineyard with planting started in the year 2000, and targetted for completion in 2003. The area of planting will be 3.5 acres, and the aim is to produce around 8,000 bottles of wine a year when the vines are fully matured.
Chardonnay will be amongst the white wine varieties, together with Seyval Blanc, Pheanix and Kernling, and the reds will be headed by Pinot Noir, together with Dornfelder, Rondo and Regent.
The sunshine record of the UK is amongst the best in the country, and the south facing slopes protected by hills on either side, auger for good conditions for the production of quality wines, including rses and sparkling wine.
The first commercial production should be released in either 2003 or 2004.
Please keep posted for future developments.
