For decades this independent family company based in the Upper Douro valley, in north-eastern Portugal, produced fortified wines of great quality for the Port Wine shippers. For this to be possible, in addition to the knowledge acquired over many years, the modernization of the winery, technical innovation and improved grape quality were also decisive and always based in great professional dedication and improving spirit.
Quinta de Brunheda comprises 360 ha of land, which extends along both banks of the Tua River, a tributary of the Douro River, and is owned by the Sequeira Mesquita family since 1720. Its vineyard is situated in the heart of the Douro region, demarcated by the Marquis of Pombal in 1756, thus making it the oldest wine region in the world.
In the 1990’s decade, the company has started to produce Douro DOC wines, under its own labels, achieving in them a recognized distinction, outstanding quality and remarkable own character and personality.
