Barker’s Marque is the dream of 2 English brothers, Simon and Ed Barker, one the winemaker in NZ, the other based near Boston, USA.
Our wines are what consumers want from New Zealand – clean, fresh, intense Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs (plus a Riesling in 2008) of the highest quality. Attractively packaged, fun wines at prices that everyone can afford, prices that you don’t expect from a family run winery.
We achieve a price advantage not by scrimping on packaging or quality but by building direct relationships between ourselves and our distributors.
No glossy brochures, no offices, no restaurants or cellar doors. No expensive marketing or long foreign trips. No overheads. No distractions. Just unique, high quality, Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.
Our first wine was 2006, our first vintage from our vineyard (30,000 cases potential) was 2007. Muritai, “Sea Breeze” in Maori, is a half mile from the sea in one of the windiest and most disease resistant spots in Marlborough.
