The Abbazia Ogliastro estate extends for approximately 70 hectars in a hilly area between Caltagirone and the Santo Pietro woods, in eastern Sicily.
The accurate pruning, the hand-made and selective harvesting, the rigorous culture standards along with the particular climatic conditions of the area allow the production of perfect healthy grapes without any need of invasive pesticide treatments.
The Carrateddu, obtained from Nero d’Avola grapes in a limited and numbered quantity of bottles, is our main product: a red wine suited for long ageing, elegant and with a tanning structure perfectly harmonized.
To the taste it evokes fruity notes of cherry and plum, with slight spicy flavour. It is ideal with roasts, grilled meat and cheeses which are particularly tasty and mature.
