With a simple handshake, two families came together to create one of the top wine, spirits and beer distributors in the country. In 1942, Chris Carlos welcomed Al Davis as an equal partner in the Dixie Wine Company, a business Carlos had founded in 1935. Today, that partnership has blossomed into National Distributing Company (NDC), the fourth largest alcoholic beverage distributor in the U.S.
Founded on the principles of being the very best at servicing the needs of its people, its suppliers, its customers and its community, NDC is one of the most proficient alcoholic beverage distribution networks in the country, boasting an eight-state, $1.4 billion sales empire. Growth has come through both internal strategy and acquisitions, which began in Florida in 1947. NDC currently has operations in the District of Columbia and eight states: Georgia, Florida, Ohio, Colorado (entered in 1980), New Mexico (1991), South Carolina (1993), Maryland (1997) and Virginia (1997).
