Le Miccine is a small, family-operated Chianti Classico vineyard and winery in Gaiole-in-Chianti,Tuscany. In producing Le Miccine's fine wines, American owners Clifford and Donna Meneghetti Weaver are assisted by oenologist Vittorio Fiore and agronomist Remigio Bordini. Le Miccine's modern vineyard and cellar practices combine to assure the highest possible quality. In the vineyard, production is severely restricted by training, pruning, tying and green-harvesting. At the peak of their ripeness and maturity, the bunches are hand-picked by small, well-trained crews under close supervision and brought to the cantina in small lots for final inspection and vinification. After optimum extraction thanks to delestage, pump-overs and monitored maceration, Le Miccine's red wines are aged in French oak barriques, but with care to preserve the dominant fruit flavors and aroma of the Sangiovese grape in a well-balanced wine.
