House of Vintage Brandys Tavria is one of the oldest brandy-making factories in Eastern Europe. Its founding, however, was rather a matter of accident. It all started in 1822, when the Russian czar, Alexander I, invited French and Swiss viticulturists and winemakers to the Black Sea shores, to plant the first vineyards in the area. The colonists were impressed by the vast unexploited land, which fitted ideally for grape growing. In no time, the three men bought over 500 hectares of land in these parts. The colonists made no mistake in their forecasts: after only a decade of cultivation, they became owners of unbelievable vineyards that could compete with the ones located in world-famous French provinces. Over the years, Tavria supplied finest wines and brandies to Ukraine, Russia and other adjacent countries. Here at Tavria, we honor the traditions established by our founding fathers, and strictly cling to classic brandy making technology of double distillation.
